Job summary

Atlas Copco in Houston, TX is seeking a Receiving Specialist to support our supply chain by efficiently receiving, inspecting, labeling, and locating all inbound shipments for production and other departments.

Reporting to the Logistics & Trade Compliance Manager, you will use ERP systems, safely operate forklifts and material handling gear, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and a clean, safe workplace.

Qualifications

  • Entry-level to 1–2 years of receiving, warehousing, or logistics experience.
  • High school diploma (preferred).
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Certified forklift operator with safe material handling experience.
  • Strong organizational and proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and SAP S/4HANA.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on shop floors and outdoor areas.
  • Willing to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming shipments for damages and verify contents against orders.
  • Receive shipments within 24 hours and strive for 95% compliance.
  • Label, store, and relocate materials to optimize storage and access.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in ERP systems.
  • Operate forklifts, cranes, and other handling equipment safely.
  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, and logistics to resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workplace.

Job description

As a Receiving Specialist at Atlas Copco, you will play a pivotal role in the smooth flow of materials within our Supply Chain operations. Your primary responsibility is to efficiently receive, inspect, label, and properly locate all incoming shipments to ensure seamless availability for production and other departments. Reporting directly to the Logistics & Trade Compliance Manager, you will be an essential link between transportation, inventory, and production teams.

Responsibilities
  • Thoroughly inspecting all incoming shipments for damages and verifying contents against purchase orders and packing slips to maintain intake accuracy and quality standards.
  • Ensuring prompt receipt of shipments within 24 hours of arrival, aiming for a 95% compliance rate to support just‑in‑time production needs.
  • Applying accurate labeling and relocating materials efficiently to appropriate storage or production locations to optimize space utilization and inventory accessibility.
  • Maintaining detailed and up‑to‑date records in inventory management systems, supporting effective inventory control, audit readiness, and purchasing decisions.
  • Operating forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment safely and proficiently, handling heavy loads up to 80,000 lbs while adhering strictly to safety protocols.
  • Collaborating with cross‑functional teams including production, purchasing, and logistics to communicate any discrepancies, delays, or challenges in material receipt and inventory management.
  • Actively contributing to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workplace by participating in routine plant housekeeping activities such as trash removal, recycling, and floor sweeping.
  • Demonstrating commitment to Atlas Copco’s ‘Safety First’ culture by following all quality, environmental, safety, and health guidelines to foster a secure and compliant work environment.
  • Performing other assigned duties as necessary that contribute to the ongoing efficiency and effectiveness of the logistics and warehouse operations.

Key Qualifications
