The Receiving Manager is responsible for the successful operation of the receiving department as well as training, directing, and monitoring all department staff. Department Managers are responsible for the success of their own department and are required to fulfill the duties of the Manager on Duty (MOD) on a scheduled basis.

The Receiving Manager is responsible for the successful operation of the receiving department as well as training, directing, and monitoring all department staff. Department Managers are responsible for the success of their own department and are required to fulfill the duties of the Manager on Duty (MOD) on a scheduled basis.

Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities include:

  • Providing excellent customer service as a top priority.
  • Exemplifying integrity, responsibility, and excellence while adhering to all policies.
  • Accurately receiving all incoming products, including checking dates, accuracy, and damage.
  • Scanning all incoming and outgoing products.
  • Staging products for efficient delivery to the sales floor.
  • Processing POs, RPOs, mispicks, invoices, and paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Researching and resolving discrepancies.
  • Communicating with department managers regarding delivery issues and vendor out-of-stocks.
  • Following up on special orders.
  • Operating forklifts and pallet jacks as required.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized back room.
  • Ensuring all in-stock products meet company standards.
  • Training and monitoring department personnel, including task assignment and follow-up.
  • Collaborating with other managers for cross-training staff.
  • Assisting in interviewing and hiring for department needs.
  • Addressing performance and disciplinary issues with the store manager.
  • Opening and closing the store, including cash handling processes.
  • Managing register functions, customer returns, complaints, and shift changes.
  • Maintaining safety and security for customers and employees.
  • Handling business disruptions like loitering, solicitation, weather emergencies, and restroom misuse.
  • Responding to customer inquiries per company standards, including nutritional support statements.
  • Continuously increasing product knowledge.
  • Using SAP and inventory software, analyzing reports, and utilizing other IS programs as needed.
  • Working a schedule based on store needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with a 40-hour workweek and mandatory meetings.

All employees are expected to be "hands-on" and flexible to accomplish tasks to help the company thrive.

Qualifications

Recipe for Success includes:

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-2 years retail experience, preferably in grocery or natural foods.
  • 1-2 years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Receiving experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification ability.
  • Ability to pass food safety training and maintain certifications.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities with a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks.
  • Cashier training and currency counting skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
