Job description

The Receiving Lead will report directly to the Warehouse Manager and is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the receiving area within the warehouse. This role ensures accurate receipt, inspection, and processing of inbound shipments while maintaining compliance with company standards. The Receiving Lead plays a key role in coordinating with vendors, managing inventory, and fostering a safe and efficient work environment.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Receiving Operations:
    • Supervise and coordinate the receipt of all inbound shipments, including verifying delivery accuracy against purchase orders.
    • Inspect incoming goods for damage, defects, or discrepancies and escalate issues as necessary.
    • Ensure proper labeling, tagging, and documentation of received goods.
  2. Inventory Management:
    • Work closely with inventory teams to ensure accurate recording of incoming materials in the warehouse management system.
    • Conduct periodic audits to reconcile physical inventory with system records.
    • Assist in identifying and resolving inventory discrepancies.
  3. Team Membership:
    • Provide training, guidance, and support to receiving support personnel to ensure high performance and adherence to procedures.
    • Foster a positive team environment that emphasizes safety, accountability, and teamwork.
  4. Vendor Coordination:
    • Communicate with vendors and carriers to resolve delivery issues or delays.
    • Manage return processes for damaged or incorrect shipments in collaboration with procurement teams.
  5. Safety and Compliance:
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area in compliance with OSHA standards.
    • Ensure team members follow all safety protocols, including proper handling of equipment and materials.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and address any hazards promptly.
Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in logistics or supply chain management preferred.
  2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in warehouse receiving or a similar role, with at least 1 year in a leadership capacity.
  3. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  4. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  6. Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment (certification preferred).
