Job summary

Hyatt Regency Portland Convention Center in Portland, Oregon is seeking a Purchasing Clerk to support sourcing, procurement, and receiving operations across hotel departments. The role emphasizes meeting high‑quality standards, inventory accuracy, and timely deliveries while collaborating with department heads and vendors.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong computer skills (Word/Excel/BirchStreet), a positive attitude, ability to multi‑task under deadlines, and flexibility to work evenings

Qualifications

A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
Refined verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient knowledge of computer applications.
Must be able to lift, push, pull for consecutive hours daily, carry up to 75 pounds.
Open and flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver license with a clean record.

Responsibilities

Support the Purchasing Director with sourcing and procuring of goods and services required by the hotel, including food and beverage items.
Evaluate, select and cultivate strong relationships with suppliers, and monitor their performance.
Implement inventory management best practices and conduct regular inventory audits.
Coordinate with department heads to ensure timely delivery of requested items.
Receive and ensure all purchased goods meet high-quality standards and specifications.
Oversee the storeroom and assist with daily requisitions; manage hotel receiving of products and packages.

Qualifications

Duties and responsibilities related to the Purchasing role:

Support the Purchasing Director with sourcing and procuring of goods and services required by the hotel, including food and beverage items.

Evaluate, select and create strong relationships with suppliers, and monitor their performance.

Implement inventory management best practices and conduct regular inventory audits.

Work closely with department heads to understand their specific requirements and ensure timely delivery of requested items.

Receive & ensure all purchased goods meet the hotel's high-quality standards and specifications.

Oversight of the hotel’s storeroom including working as part of a team to check-in,put away all hotel food and beverage deliveries, and efficiently complete daily requisitions.

Leads all hotel receiving of product, and internal and guest packages including shipping & delivering packages to the various departments throughout the hotel, and receiving invoices and packing information electronically through the hotel’s online procurement system. Basic computer knowledge that includes word and excel, and competency to learn Birchstreet are a requirement.

Work with Purchasing Manager to complete additional tasks as required.

This person must have a positive, can-do, and helpful attitude. They should be comfortable multi-tasking, working under tight deadlines and interacting with a variety of constituents including senior leadership, fellow team members, guests and delivery personnel.
