Responsibilities

  • Unload palletized inbound shipments safely and efficiently.
  • Verify received products against packing lists and documents.
  • Perform initial visual quality checks for damage or discrepancies.
  • Report discrepancies to supervisor and inventory personnel.
  • Sort, stage, and organize received products per requirements.
  • Receive products into the warehouse management system.
  • Apply product identifiers and labels as required.
  • Prepare and stage products for put away or transfer.
  • Operate material handling equipment when trained and authorized.
  • Follow receiving procedures and inventory-control practices.
  • Maintain clean, organized receiving areas.
  • Communicate issues to supervisors.
  • Assist with related receiving/warehouse activities as needed.

Position Summary

The Receiving Associate supports the accurate, safe, and efficient movement of inbound product through the receiving department. The role helps ensure merchandise is properly handled, verified, identified, and processed before it moves to its next destination within the facility.

Responsibilities may include unloading palletized shipments, sorting and organizing product, comparing received items to shipment documentation, identifying damage or quantity discrepancies, completing warehouse management system transactions, applying required labels and inventory identifiers, and preparing product for staging or internal transfer.

Specific assignments may vary based on operational needs, training, and equipment authorization. Associates in this role work closely with receiving, inventory, production, ecommerce, and warehouse teams to maintain product flow, inventory accuracy, and an organized receiving area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Unload palletized inbound shipments safely and efficiently.
  • Verify received products against packing lists, shipment documents, labels, or system information.
  • Perform an initial visual quality check for damage, incorrect products, shortages, overages, or other apparent discrepancies.
  • Report product, quantity, condition, labeling, or documentation discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor and inventory personnel.
  • Sort, separate, stage, and organize received products according to operational requirements.
  • Receive products accurately and promptly into the warehouse management system.
  • Apply or verify product identification placards, pallet labels, license plate numbers, and other required inventory identifiers.
  • Prepare and stage received products for put away, production allocation, ecommerce processing, or transfer to another department.
  • Build, secure, wrap, and label pallets as required for safe handling and storage.
  • Operate powered industrial trucks, powered or manual pallet jacks, stretch-wrap machines, and other material-handling equipment when trained and authorized.
  • Follow established receiving procedures, inventory-control practices, and product-handling requirements.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and unobstructed receiving and staging areas.
  • Follow all facility safety rules, equipment procedures, and required personal protective equipment practices.
  • Handle products in a manner that minimizes damage, loss, contamination, and inventory inaccuracies.
  • Communicate operational issues, unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, and workflow delays to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Assist with related receiving and warehouse activities as assigned based on operational needs.
Qualifications and Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant warehouse experience may be considered in place of formal education.
  • Previous warehouse, distribution, receiving, shipping, inventory, or material-handling experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand English sufficiently to interpret product labels, carton markings, packing lists, item numbers, quantities, safety information, and work instructions.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a strong asset.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn and use a warehouse management system and related scanning equipment.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and established operating procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and communicate product or inventory discrepancies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented warehouse environment.
  • Ability to perform the physical activities associated with warehouse work, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling products or equipment.
  • Willingness and ability to complete required training before operating powered equipment.
  • No equipment certification is required at the time of hire unless specifically identified for an individual assignment.
  • Dependable attendance, safe work habits, and consistent adherence to company policies and procedures.
