Job summary

CMC in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a detail-oriented Estimator/Bid Coordinator to support the bid process, perform rebar takeoffs, and communicate scope to the sales team. You will prepare estimates, bid schedules, and takeoffs while ensuring timely delivery of documents to meet bid deadlines.

The role requires 1–2 years of AutoCAD and blueprint reading experience, strong math and writing skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years' experience with AutoCAD and blueprint reading
  • Strong mathematical skills and technical writing
  • Experience in drafting/estimating and selling fabricated rebar is a plus
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Excellent customer service and written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
  • Team player and professional in interactions with staff and external contacts
  • Must be a self-starter able to follow directions
  • Willing to work overtime as necessary

Responsibilities

  • Manage Bid Process and coordinate with Responsible Salesman
  • Perform rebar material takeoffs
  • Understand scope of work and communicate to sales
  • Prepare Estimate Summary sheet
  • Prepare Estimate, bid schedules and Takeoff and send preliminary documents to meet bid schedules
  • Other duties as assigned in general support of the organization

What You'll Do
  • Responsible for the Bid Process and Coordinating with Responsible Salesman

What You'll Need
  • 1 - 2 years previous experience and/or knowledge with AutoCAD and reading blueprints
  • Strong Mathematical skills and technical writing skills required
  • Experience in either or all of drafting/estimating and placing/sales of fabricated rebar is a plus
  • Ability to deal with uncertainty and work under minimal supervision required
  • Decision-making abilities with excellent customer service and both verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time required
  • Ability to be flexible, a team player and interact professionally with employees as well as external contacts
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to follow directions and work in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary outside of normally scheduled shift with little or no advance notification
Your Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business preferred
