Job summary

Commercial Metals seeks an estimator to support bid preparation, takeoffs, and scope letters. You will work across sales and fabrication teams to ensure accurate estimates and timely bid submissions.

You will help resolve detailing and field issues while maintaining organized project documentation. You should have strong math and technical writing, plus proficiency in MS Office and blueprints interpretation.

Qualifications

• Strong mathematical skills and technical writing are required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
• MS Office Proficiency, especially Excel, Word, and PDF tools.
• Associates degree preferred; High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares estimate, bid schedules, and takeoffs; sends preliminary scope letters and bid documents.
• Completes the Estimate Summary sheet for projects.
• Assists with detailing, fabrication, and field problem research.
• Manages bid process and coordinates with the Responsible Salesman.
• Ensures outstanding service and satisfies customer needs across calls, meetings, and sites.
• Maintains records and a clean, organized work area.

What You'll Do

• Prepares Estimate, bid schedules and perform Takeoff while preparing and sending preliminary scope letters, bid forms and documents to meet bid schedules
• Completes Estimate Summary sheet
• Assists with the research of detailing, fabrication, and field problems
• Responsible for the Bid Process and Coordinating with Responsible Salesman
• Responsible for making sure outstanding service is taking place and all efforts are taken to satisfy customer needs at all levels, phone calls, meetings, and job sites
• Maintains accurate records and documentation for each job and a desirable work area

What You'll Need

• Strong Mathematical skills and technical writing skills required
• Ability to deal with uncertainty and work under minimal supervision required
• Ability to multi-task and manage time required
• Ability to interact and communicate with co-workers, company leaders, and customers in a positive manner required
• Ability to follow directions and work rules and accept constructive feedback required
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans
• Strong proficiency in MS Office Applications, particularly Excel
• Proficient in Excel, Word and PDF application, Adobe or Bluebeam, required.

Your Education

• High School Diploma or GEDrequired,Associatesdegree or higher preferred
