Job summary

Pacific Fusion is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to help build the user interfaces and backend software that enable engineers, scientists and operators to run the fusion demonstration facility. You will work closely with controls engineers, scientists and operators to present real-time system state, manage configuration and data, and support safe facility operations.

The role targets students pursuing CS/SE or related fields with coursework in web or backend development and familiarity

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• Coursework in software development fundamentals
• Web or backend programming experience
• Familiarity with TypeScript/JavaScript or Go/Python
• Understanding of client-server applications, APIs and data flow
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve web-based UIs for system status, configuration, and diagnostics
• Build backend services to serve real-time and historical data
• Integrate UI, APIs, and facility systems; contribute to code reviews
• Test, debug, and validate software for live environments
