Job summary

KBR seeks a Software Engineer to design, develop, implement, and test software for large-scale communications demonstrations. Work in a disciplined, collaborative environment with modern programming practices; hybrid/remote arrangements are possible.

Responsibilities include C++ system software design, protocol/state machine work, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to prototype communications software.

Qualifications

• MS in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with strong real-time coding background.
• In lieu of MS, a BS with 6+ years of directly relevant experience is acceptable.
• 5+ years of C++/C++11 experience.
• 5+ years of Java/JavaScript experience.
• 5+ years of Source Control experience (Git/SVN/ClearCase).
• 5+ years of object‑oriented development.
• 5+ years of UML software modelling.
• 5+ years of software deployment experience.
• 5+ years of DevSecOps experience.
• 5+ years of algorithms development and performance improvements.
• 5+ years of design patterns and data structures.
• 5+ years of distributed systems and IPC (UDP/TCP/ActiveMQ).
• 5+ years of Linux development or RTOS experience.
• 5+ years of hardware abstraction layers.
• 5+ years of software lifecycle processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication for technical docs.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• System software design and implementation in C++ (real-time).
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to prototype communications software.
• Integration, test design, and support for lab and field experiments.
• Prepare technical docs: architectures, specifications, reports.
