Job summary

Metra is seeking a Crime Surveillance Specialist to monitor the Multimedia Analytic Center, evaluate video and data sources, and produce actionable intelligence for public safety. You will coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies, maintain logs, and prepare evidence-ready materials.

Responsibilities include real-time threat assessment, testimony in court, and readiness for on-call duties, with certifications required within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in criminal justice or public safety.
  • Minimum two years in public safety, multimedia communications, or related field.
  • Must obtain LEEDS and FBI eGuardian/JTTF certifications within 90 days of hire.
  • Background check including fingerprints and credit check required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze situations and act under time constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor MAC video and COPS console; assess information in real-time.
  • Detect threats and alert law enforcement and emergency services.
  • Retrieve video images for investigations and organize camera views.
  • Create and transfer final files to physical media for court or evidence.
  • Maintain detailed activity logs and CHF records; respond to requests.
  • Testify in court and travel as needed; on-call 24/7 availability.
