Job summary

Harbor Group International is seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel, Transactions to join its in-house legal team in New York. You will handle complex domestic and international multifamily and commercial real estate transactions from inception through closing, including acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and debt investments.

The role requires 4–6 years of transactions/M&A experience, a JD, and a New York bar license or eligibility.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and current bar license required; NY license preferred.
• 4–6 years of transactions and/or M&A experience, preferably in real estate.
• Proactive, ownership-oriented mindset and ability to work under deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate, draft, and manage letters of interest, term sheets, and other contracts.
• Lead complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions and share purchases.
• Draft, negotiate, review JV, purchase, and loan agreements.
• Close real estate financings, including whole loans and mezzanine loans.
• Draft and review contracts related to real estate operations; ensure policy alignment.
• Identify legal risks in deal structuring and propose solutions; supervise outside counsel.
