Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate potential sites for utility-scale solar and BESS projects.
• Lead land acquisition activities, including prospecting, site selection and negotiations with landowners.
• Negotiate and manage land purchase agreements, leases, options, easements, rights-of-way and other land agreements.
• Conduct and coordinate real estate and development due diligence.
• Manage zoning, land-use and jurisdictional requirements.
• Coordinate environmental studies, title work, surveys, mineral rights and floodplain assessments.
• Lead or coordinate permitting and entitlement processes with local, state and federal authorities.
• Build relationships with landowners, brokers, municipalities, counties, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Support business development by identifying new land and project opportunities.

Job description

We are working with a renewable energy developer focused on large-scale solar and battery energy storage projects across Texas and the wider U.S.

They’ve been developing utility-scale renewable projects for over a decade and have built a substantial pipeline, with around 6.7 GW of projects currently under development. Our client manages projects across the full development lifecycle, from identifying and securing land through permitting, interconnection and ultimately getting projects construction-ready.

This role will own the land and real estate development process, identifying and securing suitable sites for new renewable energy projects and advancing those opportunities through the development lifecycle.

They need somebody who understands how land becomes a viable utility-scale energy project from site identification and landowner negotiations through due diligence, permitting and development.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate potential sites for utility-scale solar and BESS projects.
• Lead land acquisition activities, including prospecting, site selection and negotiations with landowners.
• Negotiate and manage purchase agreements, leases, options, easements, rights-of-way and other land agreements.
• Conduct and coordinate real estate and development due diligence.
• Manage zoning, land-use and jurisdictional requirements.
• Coordinate environmental studies, title work, surveys, mineral rights, floodplain assessments and other site investigations.
• Lead or coordinate the permitting and entitlement process, ensuring projects have the necessary local, state and federal approvals.
• Build relationships with landowners, brokers, municipalities, counties, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Support business development by identifying new land and project opportunities.
• Work cross-functionally with Legal, Engineering, Interconnection, Finance, EPC and Business Development teams.
• Manage multiple sites simultaneously and help move projects from initial land identification through construction-ready status.

That scope aligns closely with the established development activity. Its current portfolio includes multiple large Texas solar and BESS projects.

Candidate Profile

The strongest candidates will have direct experience handling land acquisition and landowner negotiations, rather than coming purely from engineering or project execution.
