Development Manager - Utility Scale Solar and BESS
Utility-Scale Renewable Energy Project Development Manager – Austin, Texas
Our client is seeking a renewable energy project developer to drive greenfield development and acquisitions. This role will focus on identifying, securing, and advancing utility-scale solar and BESS through all development phases. This is a hybrid position – 3 days per week in the Austin office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Secure land for utility-scale solar and BESS and establish partnerships.
- Stay informed on local and state regulations impacting project development.
- Lead greenfield development and acquisition efforts to bring projects to NTP/construction readiness.
- Assess project feasibility, considering layout, permitting, and total installed costs.
- Collaborate with Transmission, Real Estate, and Legal teams to resolve development challenges.
- Negotiate land agreements, interconnection contracts, and other key development documents.
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, permitting, and interconnection processes.
- Manage multiple projects, ensuring steady progress across all stages.
- Provide project updates to leadership and present to the Investment Committee.
- Explore new software tools to optimize project development.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in renewable energy project development.
- Strong leadership and project management skills in a remote, fast-paced environment.
- Expertise in renewable energy regulations, permitting, and interconnection.
- Strong problem-solving and communication abilities.
- Ability to work across multi‑disciplinary teams and time zones.
- Proven track record of driving projects to completion.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, energy, or related field preferred.
- Willingness to travel.
