Gilbane Development Company is seeking a Real Estate Development Intern to support its Affordable & Mixed-Income Housing team in New York City. The internship runs Summer 2027 (June–August) with four days in-person and one remote day per week.

The role involves market research, deal updates, RFP support, due diligence, underwriting assistance, and coordinating with project partners across the development process.

Qualifications

• Graduate or bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Public Policy, or similar.
• Prior experience in commercial real estate preferred.
• Interest in affordable and mixed-income housing development.
• Experience with financial modeling tools.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to assist in all responsibilities.
• Superior attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct market research for development opportunities.
• Assist in executive memos and deal updates.
• Prepare responses to municipal RFPs for affordable housing development.
• Support due diligence for real estate closings and meetings.
• Assist underwriting tasks and deal-flow processes.
• Attend weekly deal meetings with project teams.
• Help build development vendor teams and evaluate proposals.
• Gather historical data for the development software platform.
• Assess feasibility of proposed development projects and acquisitions.
