Our Client is an innovative, community-minded real estate development and investment firm based in Bethesda, MD, with a broad, national portfolio of private market-rate and affordable multifamily housing and large-scale, mixed-use public-private redevelopments.
Overview
The Development Associate will support the development team on large scale public–private partnership (P3) and land development projects. This is an entry-level to early-career role focused on project coordination, documentation, and day-to-day support across development and construction activities.
The Development Associate will work under the direction of senior team members and collaborate with consultants, public agencies, and construction partners to help keep projects organized and moving forward.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Support
- Assist senior team members with day-to-day coordination of development projects
- Track project schedules, milestones, and deliverables
- Help coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and capture meeting notes and action items
Project & Construction Support
- Support project managers during design, permitting, and construction phases
- Assist with tracking consultant and contractor deliverables
- Help organize and maintain construction and project documentation, including contracts, submittals, and pay applications
- Participate in site visits and assist with follow-up tasks
Documentation & Approvals
- Organize and maintain project files, data rooms, and records
- Assist with preparation and organization of materials for public agencies, internal approvals, and governing bodies
- Support preparation of RFQs, RFPs, and related responses
- Assist with coordination and documentation related to public–private partnership agreements and requirements
- Help ensure compliance with public-sector processes, reporting, and deadlines
General Team Support
- Prepare basic presentations, memos, and summaries
- Provide administrative and logistical support to the development team as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in real estate, construction management, engineering, urban planning, public policy, or a related field
- 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships and academic project experience welcome)
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional verbal, written, graphic, and presentation communication skills.
- Highly motivated, goal-driven self-starter with a positive, proactive attitude.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to learn quickly and work collaboratively in a team environment
- Exposure to real estate development, construction, infrastructure, or public-sector projects a plus
- Interest in taking on increasingly complex and challenging development assignments.
