Job summary

IDEXX is seeking a Reagent Design Scientist in Maine to advance peptide synthesis and reagent development for veterinary diagnostics. You will perform SPPS, purification, and analytical characterization while contributing to cross‑functional teams and NPD processes.

You will document results, present findings, and support production-ready reagents with a focus on robust processes and data-driven decisions. This role requires hands-on lab work and collaboration in a dynamic R&D setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in organic chemistry or biochemistry with hands-on lab experience.
• Experience in peptide synthesis, conjugation, purification, and analysis required.
• Experience with standard analytical instrumentation used in reagent development.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments focused on solid‑phase peptide synthesis (SPPS).
• Purify and characterize synthetic products and conjugates using chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques.
• Prepare solutions and reagents and execute standard laboratory protocols with accuracy.
• Document experiments and communicate findings through reports and presentations.
• Contribute to multi-disciplinary NPD project teams and define technical problems.
• Analyze data and provide evidence-based recommendations, escalating when needed.
• Learn and apply IDEXX New Product Development processes including document management.
• Support maintenance and improvement of existing reagents and production processes.
• Contribute materials for reagent process flows and knowledge transfer to Process Development teams.
