Job summary

CalPortland in Petaluma, CA is hiring a Ready-Mix Driver to transport concrete from batch plant to job sites. You will perform pre- and post-trip inspections, maintain clean equipment, and adhere to safety regulations.

A positive attitude and strong customer service are essential as you support projects on active job sites. The role requires a Commercial Class A or B license with airbrakes and tank endorsement, a clean driving record, and a current DOT medical certificate.

Qualifications

• Commercial Class A or B license with airbrakes and tank endorsement.
• Safe driving record with limited violations in past 36 months and 24 months maximum two violations.
• Current DOT Medical Certificate.
• Ability to read a map and use GPS navigation.
• Familiarity with slumps and ready-mix operations.
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Deliver ready-mix concrete to various job sites.
• Operate a multi-axle mixer truck safely and legally.
• Keep vehicle clean; remove concrete buildup from exterior surfaces.
• Work to meet customer demands and communicate via radio.
• Adhere to safety policies and report incidents to management.
• Attend scheduled safety meetings and comply with regulations.

The Ready-Mix Driver will be responsible for all duties of the position, including the transporting of freshly mixed concrete from the batch plant to the job site in a safe manner. This individual will be responsible for making normal operating adjustments to the equipment and material being hauled. We are seeking a candidate with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and great customer service skills.

This is a Union position with Teamsters local 665 with a contractual benefits package.

Compensation

$36.90 per hour probatioary rate up to $39.90 post-probationary rate

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections
• Deliver ready-mix concrete to various job sites
• Operate a multi-axle mixer truck safely, obeying all traffic laws
• Clean and wash vehicle to include the removal of concrete buildup on all exterior parts of the mixer
• Must be willing to work according to customer demands
• Operate a radio to communicate with company personnel
• Adhere to all safety regulations including company policies, state, and federal regulations
• Responsible for reporting all incidents/injuries to management as soon as they occur
• Attend safety meetings as scheduled by management

Education

High School Diploma/GED

Requirements/Qualifications

• Must have currentCommercial Class A or B driver’s license with airbrakes and tank endorsement
• Safe driving record (will have to provide DMV H-6 printout) - no serious moving violations within the past 36 months; no more than two moving violations within the past 24 months
• Must have a current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Certificate
• Ability to read a map and understand verbal and GPS driving route instructions
• Must have familiarity with slumps
• Good attendance and punctuality a must
• Ability to work in extremes of hot and cold weather
• Must have the physical ability to: climb, stoop, bend, squat, frequently lift extension chutes (up to 60 lbs.), stretch, drive/sit and shift gears
• Adhere to all safety regulations including company policies, State, and Federal regulations
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule with flexible hours, hours vary; overtime work, weekends and nights, may be required

Preferred:

• Experience in ready-mix or heavy construction industries
• 2+ years of commercial driving experience

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
