Job summary

Vulcan Materials Company is seeking an Operator - RM Batch to efficiently batch concrete according to mix designs and customer orders. You will operate batching controls, verify measurements, and maintain logs while coordinating with truck drivers to ensure timely loading of ready-mix concrete.

The role requires understanding of concrete materials, batching equipment, and quality control procedures, with a focus on safety and accuracy in a busy plant environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience operating a ready-mix concrete batch plant is highly preferred.
• Experience with automated batching systems a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the batching control system to produce concrete mixes.
• Accurately measure and weigh aggregate, cement, water, and admixtures according to mix designs.
• Monitor and adjust batching parameters to ensure consistency and quality of the concrete.
• Coordinate with truck drivers for timely loading of ready-mix trucks.
• Maintain accurate batching records and production logs.
• Perform routine quality control tests on aggregates and fresh concrete (e.g., slump, air content, temperature).
• Identify and report deviations from mix design specifications or quality standards.
• Collaborate with Quality Control to resolve issues and improve concrete quality.
• Conduct pre-shift inspections of batching equipment and report malfunctions or maintenance needs.
• Perform minor maintenance and lubrication of batch plant equipment as directed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including control room and batching plant.
• Adhere to safety policies, including PPE.
• Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and communicate replenishment needs to management.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, truck drivers, maintenance personnel, and management.
