Job summary

Reading Corps, operated by Ampact, seeks a Reading Tutor to join AmeriCorps in Clinton, IA. You will deliver 20 minutes of reading practice to pairs of students each school day, under training and coaching, with the goal of improving literacy.

Full-time positions run Oct 2026–June 2027 with 35 hours weekly; part-time 20 hours. Compensation includes $18.89 per hour plus benefits such as health insurance, child care assistance, and loan support.

Qualifications

• Dependable with a history of good attendance.
• Able to follow instructions and improve based on feedback.
• Proficient in basic computer skills (email, online navigation).
• Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing).
• 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
• Able to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Lead tutoring sessions for pairs of students for 20 minutes.
• Follow a schedule to ensure students receive support.
• Track student progress and meet with the onsite coach.
• Enter student scores into data software.
• Engage in coaching and training for growth.
• Share experiences with the community.
