Job summary

Ampact's Reading Corps is seeking a Reading Tutor to support students in Des Moines, IA. You will deliver proven reading activities, track progress, and work with school coaches to boost student growth.

Position runs August 2026–June 2027 with a daytime schedule, 35 hours per week, and AmeriCorps education benefits. No prior tutoring required, but enthusiasm for helping students is essential.

Qualifications

• Dependable with a history of good attendance.
• Able to follow instructions and make improvements based on feedback.
• Proficient with basic computer skills (email and online navigation).
• Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing.
• 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to successfully complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult focused on helping students thrive.
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support.
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's onsite coach.
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software.
• Commit to your own growth through coaching and training.
• Share your experience with the community.
