Job summary

A Reading Tutor with Reading Corps will support students at local Des Moines area schools, delivering proven reading activities and coaching them throughout daily sessions. You will receive training and ongoing guidance to ensure effective tutoring and student growth.

As part of AmeriCorps, you’ll work full-time, serving pairs of students for short daily blocks and tracking progress with coaching staff to maximize outcomes.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing.
• Proficient with basic computer tasks (email, online navigation).
• Demonstrated dependability with good attendance and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult focused on helping students thrive.
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure consistent support.
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's onsite coach.
• Enter student scores into data software and monitor progress.
