Responsibilities

  • Implements Tier III literacy interventions using evidence-based methods.

General Description:

Reading Interventionists will be trained in evidence-based assessment and programming to conduct Tier II & III interventions and site-level professional development on interventions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides small group instruction focusing on grades K-2, with opportunities to engage 3-5 graders
  • Conducts monthly intervention professional development for school-based staff, and provides monthly progress monitoring data to teachers and administrators
  • Works in conjunction with the School Based Intervention Team (SBIT) to assist in assessing and/or identifying students who require Tier III interventions
  • Implements Tier III academic interventions using research-based methodology in reading
  • Communicates with school personnel and families of children regarding reading level and rate of progress
  • Documents interventions and progress on each child receiving Tier III interventions
  • Works with the school leadership team to guide and monitor the progress of each child
  • Upon request, participates in team reviews concerning academic progress for students who are struggling or need services
  • Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of each student to ensure success
  • Supervises students in a variety of school related settings
  • Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff and community Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students
  • Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices
  • Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities, and manages classroom organization
  • Administers informal and formal assessments to evaluate and assess student progress against instructional objectives
  • Works cooperatively with the administration and staff to schedule meetings
  • Attends seminars, conferences, workshops, classes, lectures, etc., as appropriate, to enhance and maintain knowledge of trends and developments in adult education, attends association and professional meetings, and otherwise maintains contacts with professionals to facilitate exchange of information
  • Actively participates in faculty and/or department meetings
  • Assists in the preparation of data for local, state and federal reports
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Must have a collegiate professional license or postgraduate professional license with an Elementary Education PreK-6 endorsement and a minimum of three years successful teaching experience.
  • Ability to analyze data at the student, class, and school levels and be able to help teachers use this data to tailor their instruction and ultimately increase academic performance
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of child growth and development, small group instructional strategies, and the theory and pedagogy related to literacy instruction
  • Bilingual skills to include Spanish are a plus.
