Central Jersey College Prep Charter School in Somerset, NJ seeks a Reading Intervention Specialist to provide targeted interventions, assess progress, and design individualized literacy plans for middle school students.

You will collaborate with teachers and families, use evidence-based strategies, integrate technology, and participate in professional development to support literacy growth and student success. The position is full-time, in-person, with benefits and standard school hours.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid NJ CE, CEAS, or Standard Teacher Certification.
• Work authorization in the U.S.
• Tuberculosis Test.
• Experience is a plus.

Reading Intervention Specialist

Responsibilities Include:

• Supporting literacy development by providing targeted interventions to students struggling with reading.
• Observe students in their natural learning environments to gain insights into their behaviors, interests, and specific needs.
• Conducting assessments to evaluate students' academic and reading skills, identifying areas for improvement.
• Designing individualized lesson plans tailored to each student's unique needs, promoting their literacy growth.
• Providing one-on-one tutoring to students requiring additional support with reading and academic tasks.
• Collaborating with teachers, parents, and administrators to regularly communicate student progress, strategies, and goals
• Utilizing evidence-based strategies such as phonics instruction and an understanding of language structure to improve reading comprehension.
• Facilitate group reading instruction for students with similar reading challenges, fostering peer learning.
• Offer enrichment or remedial activities focusing on key reading skills like phonics, fluency, and comprehension strategies.
• Developing targeted intervention plans using a variety of instructional methods and materials to enhance students' reading abilities.
• Engage in continuous professional development to stay informed on the latest educational best practices and advancements in Language Arts education.
• Communicates responsibly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and school leadership;
• Accounts for student attendance and punctuality;
• Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures;
• Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities;

Additional Responsibilities:

• Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent;
• Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communication;
• Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction;
• Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale;
• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Proven communication and instructional strategies;
• Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing;
• Excellent organizational skills.
