The mission of CJCP is to provide academic and social opportunities for students to attain the skills necessary for success in post-secondary education. Hiring for School Year 2026-2027
Responsibilities Include:
- Assess and analyze students' communication competencies and characteristics.
- Plan, prepare and deliver treatment programs for children with speech and language needs.
- Provide diagnostic evaluations of pupils referred to the child study team for communication disorders and participate in team conferences related to those pupils, as appropriate.
- Develop, implement and oversee individualized educational programs (IEPs), in conjunction with parents and teachers, for students who are eligible for speech correction
- Provide individual and small group intervention sessions with students who have been found eligible to receive services.
- Maintain close liaison with the child study team and serve as a case manager as assigned.
- Keep those records necessary for each child
- Provide individual or group in-service experiences for staff and parents as appropriate.
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of all children in the program to determine appropriateness of their program.
- Act as educational consultant to classroom teachers, counselors and administrators as needed.
- Assume primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education and other professional growth activities.
- Assume other related duties as assigned by the Chief Education Officer or Director of Special Education.
- Communicates responsibly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and school leadership;
- Accounts for student attendance and punctuality;
- Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures;
- Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities;
- Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent;
- Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale;
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proven communication and instructional strategies;
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in the field of Speech-Language pathology
- Ability to effectively apply the principles of assessment, treatment and prevention/correction of speech, language, and hearing disorders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing;
- Excellent organizational skills.
Evaluation:Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with state law, administrative code and provisions of the board's policy on the evaluation of certified staff.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university;
- Valid NJ Education Services Certificate or Speech - Language Specialist Endorsement;
- Pass a physical examination in accordance with statue and board policy
- NJ Criminal History;
- Work authorization in the U.S.;
- Tuberculosis Test;
- Experience is a plus.
