Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Edison Point Job Corps Center in Edison, NJ, and seeks an educator to provide academic instruction to students following approved curricula. You will guide students, work with staff, and ensure compliance with government directives.

The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree with a valid teaching certificate; one year of instructional experience is preferred. A valid driver’s license is also required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Valid teaching certificate and experience with youth.
• One year instructional experience preferred.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic instruction to students in accordance with approved curricula.
• Provide students with basic direction, in compliance with government and management directives.
• Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems or study habits; coordinate with other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training.
• Develop and prepare lessons; recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials.
• Utilize workplace language and behavior expectations in the classroom; relate academic skills to career technical training and workplace requirements.
• Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students; prepare related reports.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment.
• Administer and correct tests; maintain progress and attendance reports.
• Great communication skills and able to multi-task.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with students on different levels and different needs.
• Able to implement classroom accommodations for those who need. Year-round program.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Valid teaching certificate, experience with youth, and communication, including computer-based platforms such as Black Board.
• One (1) year instructional experience preferred.
