Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is hiring to provide academic instruction to students at the Edison Point Job Corps Center in Edison, NJ. A Bachelor's Degree and a valid teaching certificate are required, with one year of instructional experience preferred. A valid driver's license is also required.

You will motivate and counsel students, develop lessons, and ensure compliance with government directives while maintaining safety and quality in the classroom.

Responsibilities

• Motivate and counsel students in behavior, training, or study habits and coordinate with staff to resolve issues.

• Review and audit all areas for contractual compliance and effectiveness; prepare related reports.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards.
• Administer and correct tests; maintain progress and attendance reports.
• Demonstrate great communication skills and the ability to multi-task.
• Work in a fast-paced environment with students at different levels and needs.
• Implement classroom accommodations for students as needed.

What you will be doing:

You'll be responsible providing academic instruction to students in accordance with approved curricula. Provide students with basic direction, in compliance with government and management directives.

Essential Functions:

1. Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems or study habits; coordinate with other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training.
2. Develop and prepare lessons; recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials.
3. Utilize workplace language and behavior expectations in the classroom; on a routine basis, relate academic skills to career technical training and workplace requirements; inquire if individual students need assistance.
4. Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students. Prepare related reports.
5. Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment.
6. Administer and correct tests; maintain progress and attendance reports.
7. Great communication skills and able to multi-task.
8. Able to work in a fast-paced environment with students on different levels and different needs.
9. Able to implement classroom accommodations for those who need. Year-round program.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Valid teaching certificate, experience with youth, and communication, including computer-based platforms such as Black Board.
• One (1) year instructional experience preferred.
