Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Reading, Literacy or English with at least three graduate hours in Learning Support, Reading or Literacy.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Language Arts or Literacy with one year of secondary Reading teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and delivers instruction on topics of Reading.
  • Compiles, administers, evaluates and grades students' work and papers, informing progress.
  • Develops curricula and instructional materials such as syllabi and handouts.
  • Maintains office hours for students, assists in recruitment and retention; helps with course problems.
  • Maintains accurate attendance records, grades, and FERPA-compliant records.
  • Attends faculty meetings and professional development activities.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading literature and participating in conferences.
  • Participates in departmental and college committees; provides community outreach.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by Department Head/Dean.
