Westray Recruitment Consultants is helping a well-established industrial business in Washington fill a Driver / Warehouse Operative vacancy. The role combines driving and warehouse duties with a 60/30 split and provides a temporary to permanent opportunity for the right candidate.

Salary is £13.45 per hour, with Monday to Friday 9:00am–5:00pm hours. This is a supportive team environment based in the North East.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in driving, warehouse or logistics environment.
• Full UK driving licence with clean record, over 25 for insurance.
• Experience operating a FLT (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Driver: Safely deliver industrial products across the North East; load, secure, and unload goods per health and safety rules; plan routes; complete delivery paperwork; provide professional customer service.
• Warehouse: Pick products from sheets, check codes and descriptions, pack and label for dispatch; load and unload stock; coordinate with delivery schedules.

The Business

Our client is a well-established industrial services business based in Washington, supplying products and materials to customers across the North East.

Due to continued business requirements, they are looking to appoint a reliable and hardworkingDriver / Warehouse Operativeto join their team. This is a varied position, with the majority of your time spent making deliveries, alongside warehouse and occasional FLT duties.

The Role

The role will be split approximately as follows:

Driver - 60% of the role

- Safely and efficiently deliver industrial products and materials to customers across the North East.

- Load, secure, transport and unload goods in line with health and safety requirements.

- Plan delivery routes effectively to ensure punctual and reliable deliveries.

- Complete delivery paperwork and obtain customer signatures where required.

- Provide professional and friendly customer service when representing the business.

- Work closely with warehouse and office teams to coordinate orders and delivery schedules.

Warehouse - 30% of the role

- Pick products accurately from pick sheets and prepare orders for dispatch.

- Check product codes, quantities and descriptions to ensure orders are correct.

- Pack and label goods securely and prepare them for delivery.

- Load and unload stock

ThePerson

The successful candidatewill ideally have:

- Previous experiencein adriving, warehouse, orlogistics environment.

- A full, validUK driving licencewith a cleanor acceptable drivingrecord, due to insurance purposes you will need to be over the age of 25

- Previous experience operatinganFLT, with a validlicence/certificate desirable.

- Good knowledge oftheNorth East roadnetwork.

- Experience picking andchecking orders usingpick sheets.

- Good attention todetail with theability to workaccurately and efficiently.

- A reliable, punctualand flexible approachto work.

- Good physical fitness, as the roleinvolves loading, unloadingand moving stock.

- A professional andcustomer-focused mannerwhen making deliveries.

- Good communication skillsand the abilityto work effectivelyas part ofa team.

- The ability towork independently, managetime effectively andmeet delivery andwarehouse deadlines.

- A positive attitudeand willingness toassistacross different areasof the business.
