Job summary

Sherwoods (SW) Ltd is seeking two Site-Based Electricians to cover two university campuses in the Falmouth area. You will own your patch, perform PPM and reactive repairs, and work with the campus facilities team. The role is 40 hours a week, 8am–5pm, with enhanced rates for weekends or out-of-hours work.

On-site, you’ll estimate works, keep customers updated, and ensure compliance audits are completed on time. A strong electrical background and a full UK driving licence are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a commercial or maintenance environment.
• Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with people at all levels.
• Proactive approach to problem solving, with ability to compile specifications/workflows.
• Good IT skills.
• Willingness to undertake enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out PPM and reactive electrical repairs across the campus, right first time and within customer SLAs.
• Estimating works with full scope and materials list before submission to customer.
• Keeping the customer updated at start, during and end of each job.
• Recording completed works and follow-ups on job management system and customer portals.
• Supporting compliance audits and ensuring they are completed on time.
• Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to order materials and arrange visits.
• Working safely, following health and safety policies and RAMs.
• Looking after allocated work vehicle.

We're looking for two Site-Based Electricians to keep two busy university campuses in the Falmouth area safe, compliant and running smoothly. You'll be our electrical presence on site, mostly working independently, with a mix of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs. You'll build good working relationships with the campus facilities team, and you'll have Sherwoods' wider engineering team behind you.

What we offer

• A salary of £35,000 – £42,000, depending on experience and qualifications
• A regular working pattern: 40 hours, Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm

About the job

What you’ll need

• Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment) 18th Edition and AM2
• Experience in a commercial or maintenance environment
• Full UK driving licence
• GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 (or equivalent)
• Strong communication skills, and confidence dealing with people at all levels
• A proactive approach to problem solving, with experience of compiling specifications and workflows
• Strong technical knowledge and a genuine enjoyment of passing on your experience
• Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check

Desirable

• City & Guilds 2391-52 Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations
• Project management experience
• Good IT skills
• IOSH health and safety training
