Job summary

Metropolitan Community College is seeking a Re-entry Assistant to support re-entry initiatives, answer the mainline, file, type, schedule, and assist with center maintenance. The role includes clerical tasks, enrollment tracking, and event participation, with a Monday–Friday schedule on campus at Fort Omaha Campus.

Responsibilities

  • Answer telephone; greet visitors and direct them to appropriate areas and answer general MCC questions.
  • Maintain welcoming environment including building upkeep; assist with work orders.
  • Distribute daily mail and update bulletin boards weekly.
  • Track communication from incarcerated population and maintain enrollment interest lists.
  • Provide paper and electronic file updates, including case noting and release verifications.
  • Support Computer Center activities with internet access support and monitoring usage.
  • Input noncredit worksheet data into online system, create flyers and type forms.
  • Assist with quarterly processes including enrollment, grade reporting and mailings.
  • Participate in various events including departmental meetings, completion ceremonies, and student appreciation events.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Re-entry Assistant provides support for all re-entry initiatives and provides guidance to students and participants, directing them to appropriate services and support, as needed. This position supports re-entry functions with answering the mainline, filing, typing, scheduling, photocopying, distributing mail, and assisting with Re-entry Center maintenance and upkeep.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
  • Answer telephone; greet visitors and direct them to appropriate areas and answer general 180 Re-entry Assistance Program questions.
  • Maintain welcoming environment including building upkeep; assist with work orders.
  • Distribute daily mail and update bulletin boards weekly.
  • Track communication from incarcerated population and maintain enrollment interest lists.
  • Assist with pantry maintenance and general duties.
  • Provide paper and electronic file updates, including case noting and release verifications.
  • Support Computer Center activities with internet access support and monitoring usage.
  • Provide support with basic needs acquisition, including public assistance applications, supportive documentation and transportation needs.
  • Input noncredit worksheet data into online system, create flyers and type forms.
  • Assist with quarterly processes including enrollment, grade reporting and mailings.
  • Participate in various events including departmental meetings, completion ceremonies, and student appreciation events.
  • Consistently and dependably attend work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

The schedule is Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. This is an on-premise position located on the Fort Omaha Campus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong interpersonal and analytical skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to use general office equipment including, but not limited to, telephone, computer, copier and scanner. Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills while working with a variety of personalities on a daily basis. Ability to communicate, effectively work and interact with a diverse population, various cultures and ethnicities. Skilled in maintaining accurate files and records while paying close attention to detail. Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and, at times, with limited supervision. Knowledge and compliance of FERPA laws regarding confidentiality. Ability to maintain a cooperative, professional demeanor in stressful situations.
