Job summary

UMIAQ Environmental seeks a knowledgeable RCRA Waste Compliance Specialist/Inspector to ensure facilities comply with RCRA and related regulations. The role involves inspections, audits, and providing guidance to regulated entities on hazardous and nonhazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal.

Candidates will plan and conduct fieldwork, data assessment, and reporting, interact with clients and vendors, and support environmental remediation projects across Alaska.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrology, Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of related experience.
• Experience with hazardous waste management and environmental remediation.
• Proficient with MS Office, ArcGIS, AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of Alaska environmental regulations; familiarity with RCRA/CERCLA/OSHA.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Plan, data assessment, reporting, and oversight of field personnel.
• Review, interpret environmental data; prepare summary reports.
• Interact with clients, vendors, and staff professionally.
• Conduct field sampling and waste handling activities; operate equipment as needed.
• Inspect containers and shipping documents; track waste shipments.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations; travel as needed.
