Job summary

UMIAQ Environmental seeks a knowledgeable RCRA Waste Compliance Specialist/Inspector to ensure facilities comply with RCRA regulations for hazardous and nonhazardous waste management. The role includes inspections, audits, and providing technical support to promote best practices in handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste.

Responsibilities include data assessment, report preparation, client interaction, and fieldwork across remote locations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrology, Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or other Natural Science or equivalent experience/certifications.
At least 5 years of experience.
Contribute to environmental assessment and remediation projects, hazardous materials management, health and safety oversight, and permitting, plus profile, manifest, and shipping coordination of hazardous wastes.
Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access).

Responsibilities

Conduct inspections, audits, and evaluations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local hazardous waste regulations.
Review, evaluate, and interpret environmental data and prepare summary reports.
Interact with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels in a professional manner.
Enter confined spaces to clean tanks, drains, and other equipment as needed.
Perform waste handling, sampling, drum pumping, and remediation-related tasks.
Respond to spills and emergencies during and after business hours.
Inspect containers and collection areas for proper labeling and sealing.
Operate light and heavy equipment as required for fieldwork.
Prepare and sign shipping documents and convert them as needed.
