SMS Data Products Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Cable Plant Designer to support the DoD network in the National Capital Region.

The role centers on designing and installing DoD DISA J6P cable infrastructure across Pentagon and NCR facilities, with a focus on on-site execution in Crystal City, Virginia. The candidate will ensure compliance with J6P procedures, produce installation plans, and maintain thousands of telecommunication spaces, with a strong emphasis on safety and standards

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI.
• RCDD certification.
• Minimum 6 years designing layout and design for technology systems including voice, data, and structured cabling.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, SharePoint, and MS Visio.
• Must follow NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA and other industry standards in design and installation of low voltage and telecom systems.
• Strong knowledge of Structured Cabling Systems including survey, design, installation, and testing/commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, coordinate, design, and installation oversight of DoD DISA J6 Pentagon inside plant cable infrastructure (conduit, trays, copper, coax, fiber).
• Coordinate DISA J6P outside plant and OSP facilities in NCR under Government oversight.
• Provide Engineering Installation Plans (EIPs) for installation of spaces, pathways, cable racks, and terminations.
• Perform O&M support including equipment refreshes and maintenance for 1800+ Telecommunication Rooms in NCR.
• Produce documentation such as CIP, cut sheets, cost estimates, site surveys, and weekly reports.
• Develop maintenance plans to meet DOD/DISA J6P and industry standards.
• Mainly on-site in Crystal City, VA with a flexible Mon-Fri core hours.
