Job summary

Horizon Hobby is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for the Spektrum Battery ecosystem. You will develop and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and documentation while ensuring manufacturability and design consistency across products.

The role emphasizes CAD excellence, design standardization, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to support prototypes, production builds, and lifecycle management on-site at Champaign IL or Rancho Cucamonga CA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required
• 3+ years of mechanical product design and development experience required
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and PDM with experience in GD&T and engineering drawings

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings for battery packs, chargers, connectors, and accessories
• Develop production-ready designs meeting performance, cost, manufacturability, and reliability goals
• Design plastic, metal, and electromechanical components for various manufacturing processes
• Support concept development, prototyping, design reviews, and validation throughout product lifecycle
• Perform tolerance, fit, interference analyses and DFM evaluations
• Establish and maintain design standards and interfaces across Spektrum battery ecosystem
• Maintain BOMs, specifications, and engineering documentation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement design improvements and resolve issues
• Support transition of products from concept through production and lifecycle management
