Job summary

Werner Enterprises is seeking a pricing/bid analyst to manage the full lifecycle of customer bids and RFP/RFQ responses from Omaha. The role collaborates with pricing, sales, and operations to craft competitive pricing solutions for existing and new customers.

The ideal candidate analyzes profitability trends, performs cost modeling, and prepares data-driven pricing strategies for leadership review. Strong Excel skills and timely, accurate submissions are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics or equivalent.
  • One to two years transportation rate experience preferred.
  • One to two years PC computer experience with an Excel emphasis preferred.
  • Zero to six months customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the full lifecycle of customer bids and RFP/RFQ responses.
  • Collaborate with internal pricing, sales, and operations teams to develop pricing solutions.
  • Analyze incumbent business performance and identify profitability trends.
  • Prepare evaluations for new opportunities via cost modeling, benchmarking, and margin analysis.
  • Prepare customer-specific pricing strategies with data-driven insights.
  • Utilize pricing databases, bid templates, and documentation for access and accuracy.
  • Assist supervisory personnel with tracking and reporting bid outcomes and pricing performance.
  • Act as liaison between Account Executives and internal divisions for pricing based on freight characteristics and customer needs.
  • Complete additional rate-related projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain timely attendance as scheduled.

Job description

This role is responsible for managing the bid process, partnering with pricing teams, and performing analysis on both incumbent and new business opportunities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working cross-functionally and handling data to support strategic pricing decisions and drive customer retention and growth with the support of the pricing supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the full lifecycle of customer bids & RFP/RFQ responses, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Initiate collaboration for internal pricing, sales, and operation teams to develop competitive pricing solutions for both new and existing customers.
  • Analyze incumbent business performance, identifying profitability trends using internal and external tools & oversees solutions, suggests bid direction based on collaborative pricing provided by all divisions.
  • Preparation for evaluation for new business opportunities through cost modeling, competitor benchmarking, and margin analysis to key players.
  • Prepares customer specific pricing strategies with data-driven insights and historical performance reviews for pricing leadership to review.
  • Uses pricing databases, bid templates, and documentation for ease of access and accuracy.
  • Assist supervisory personnel with tracking and reporting bid outcomes, and pricing performance.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Account Executives and internal divisions to ensure pricing is provided based on freight characteristics, customer needs, market imbalances, and expected operating ratios.
  • Complete additional rate related projects, analysis, and other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
  • Timely and regular attendance according to the scheduled shift as determined by supervisory personnel.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Essential Functions
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Ability to operate a computer terminal and/or personal computer. Intermediate MS Excel skills required.
  • Knowledge of D.O.T and I.C.C. requirements, usually gained through practical experience, preferred.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to perform and organize several projects at one time.
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Accounting, Business
  • Administration, Marketing, Economics, or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • One to two years transportation rate experience preferred.
  • One to two years P.C. computer experience preferred, with an Excel emphasis preferred.
  • Zero to six months customer service experience preferred.
