Job summary

Ochsner Health System seeks a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support for neonatal to geriatric patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.

The role requires ARRT licensure, NBRC RRT, BLS and ACLS within 90 days of hire; associates degree required with a bachelor’s preferred, and strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Current license as a Respiratory Therapist and NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced respiratory procedures per policy.
• Reviews and documents clinical information for each patient.
• Educates patients and coworkers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures and arterial blood gas analyses.
• Provides care tailored to patient age and needs; adapts to patient population.
