Job summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support for neonatal to geriatric patients. The RT-CRT team performs ABGs, EKGs, and arterial sampling, and supports with airway management under physician direction.

The role requires an Associate's degree (Bachelor's preferred), active Respiratory Therapist license, NBRC RRT certification, and BLS; ACLS within 90 days of hire is required.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree required.
• Current license as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
• Certification by the NBRC as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• BLS from the American Heart Association.
• ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to established policy and procedure.
• Reviews and documents all clinical information regarding each patient.
• Educates patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures.
• Provides care based on patient age and related criteria.
• Adapts communication and care to the patient population as appropriate.
• Other related duties as required.
