Job summary

Inova Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, VA is seeking a PRN Rapid Response Nurse. This day shift position runs 7:00am–7:30pm and emphasizes patient safety, rapid assessment, and escalation of issues to stabilize patients.

You will respond to RRT calls, use SBAR communication, document care, and support families during emergencies while coordinating with the care team. Requires 3–5 years ICU or ED RN experience, BSN, BLS and ACLS, and VA licensure.

Qualifications

• Three–five years of Critical Care or ER RN experience.
• BSN required if RN has an Associate degree, to be completed within 5 years.
• BLS and ACLS required; CEN or CCRN within 6 months of hire.
• VA RN license or eligibility (multi-state RN allowed).

Responsibilities

• Provide rapid response care and monitor patient status.
• Use SBAR for critical communications with teams.
• Support families and maintain updates during emergencies.
• Document vital signs, procedures, meds, and patient response.
• Assist in life support and airway management when needed.
• Maintain equipment and crash carts readiness.
• Participate in MSET/rapid response QA and sepsis data collection.
• Provide emergency response training within the organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
