Job summary

Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking a Full-time Rapid Response Nurse (RN) for the night shift, 7:00pm–7:30am, three 12-hour shifts weekly. The Rapid Response Nurse ensures patient safety by escalating issues and following standard processes while updating patients, families, and hospital teams.

The role responds to RRT Code calls, stabilizes patients, and uses SBAR to communicate with care teams. BSN preferred; BLS and ACLS required; VA licensure as RN or multi-state license.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience as a Critical Care or Emergency Room RN.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; BSN completion within 5 years if needed.
• BLS and ACLS required; CEN or CCRN within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Escalates issues and ensures patient safety per protocols.
• Uses SBAR to communicate during MSET/rapid response situations.
• Provides psychosocial support to patients' families during rapid responses.
• Maintains patient data and documents findings in medical records.
• Recognizes code situations and activates appropriate responses.
• Controls emergent environments and ensures crash carts and equipment readiness.
• Performs QA and performance improvement activities including sepsis data collection.
• Provides training and education on emergency response within the organization.
