Job summary

The Summit Bechtel Reserve is seeking an experienced instructor to lead shooting programs at our facilities in Glen Jean, WV. You will oversee ranges, mentor participants, and ensure a safe, organized environment for daily operations.

The role requires NRA certification across rifle, pistol, shotgun, or RSO, plus 2+ years of relevant experience. Strong teamwork with leadership duties and background screening readiness are expected.

Qualifications

• NRA Certified Instructor (Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun/RSO minimum) (Training Provided)
• 2+ years Summit Employment Experience or equivalent military/LE experience
• Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
• Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication

Responsibilities

• Ensure team maintains all equipment
• Know effects and risk estimate distances for all munitions
• Control movement of small teams to provide programs and complete range tasks

• Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area
• Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership
• Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook

Position Overview

Instill proper knowledge, skills, and attitude with participants. Provide high quality instruction, direct leadership, and mentorship in all shooting venues.

Physical & Practical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and hike up to 9 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 70 pounds
• Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
• Housing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45-55
