JOB PURPOSE:

The cook will be primarily responsible for ordering and shopping to maintain food inventories, planning, and preparing meals for Ranch employees and guests, and cleaning the lunchroom and kitchen areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Responsible to acquire, learn and practice all LBI Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and comply with these standards as well as safety regulations pertinent to the department and job functions.
  • Plan menus and order/purchase food inventories to meet recipe requirement and/or specific employer meal requests.
  • Prepare meals according to approved menu as requested.
  • Prep and serve lunch between hours of 11:30am to 1:00pm.
  • Special occasions may result in different schedule/hours.
  • Prep vegetables, meals, beverages, breads, and desserts to ensure timely meal presentation.
  • Serve meals to employees and guests of the Ranch management.
  • Dietary restrictions may need to be addressed.
  • Prepare or order/purchase pastries and/or desserts to accompany meals.
  • Ensure a variety of beverages is available.
  • Perform all dining room and kitchen housekeeping needs.
  • Communicate all kitchen concerns, supply needs or maintenance issues to the Supervisor immediately.
OTHER DUTIES:
  • Identify potential safety or maintenance issues and communicate them with the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
  • Valid driver's license with insurability.
  • Food Handlers/Food Safety Manager certification required.
Knowledge/Skills:
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates initiative, reliability, and flexibility.
  • Good working knowledge of kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to follow directions, recipes, and order adequate food items without excess waste.
  • Knowledgeable on how to properly prepare food to avoid food-borne illnesses.
Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of line and/or prep cook experience required.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Regularly required to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time. The individual must be able to effectively communicate and hear. Will be occasionally required to reach above shoulder level, step up on a small ladder or stool, walk on uneven surfaces, stoop, and kneel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and peripheral vision. Will occasionally require to lift up to 20 pounds.
