Job summary

American Airlines is seeking a Fleet Service Clerk to support ground operations at Portland, OR. You will move baggage, load cargo, operate belt loaders, and service aircraft at gates in varying weather conditions.

You will work outdoors, with shifts that include weekends/holidays, and you must pass background checks and security clearances. Starting pay is $20.63 per hour under TWU terms.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or international equivalent.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have knowledge of and ability to use basic computer skills.
• People-oriented and highly motivated, with a positive and cooperative attitude.
• Good communication skills.
• Applicable valid driver's license as required by local authorities.
• Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable.
• Completion of a pre-employment drug screen, comprehensive background check and/or fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Move baggage and cargo of various weights to and from aircraft.
• Drive and operate belt loaders.
• Service aircraft at gates with ground power and air conditioning.
• Tow and pushback aircraft from gates.
• Service aircraft lavatories and water ports.
• Clean interior of aircraft when needed.
• Position beverage and luggage carts around the ramp area.
• Work shifts that include irregular and/or extended hours, weekends and holidays.
