Job summary

American Airlines is seeking Fleet Service Clerks to handle baggage and cargo, transport items between terminals and aircraft, and assist with ground operations. The role requires working outdoors, irregular hours, and compliance with safety and security policies.

Starting pay is $20.63 per hour, with benefits and opportunities across a global network. Candidates must meet licensing, training, and background check requirements to join our team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or international equivalent is required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Lift, load, unload, and transport bags and cargo to/from aircrafts, bag carts, and conveyor belts.
• Must have knowledge of and ability to use basic computer skills.
• People-oriented and highly motivated with a positive and cooperative attitude.
• Good communication skills are essential.
• Applicable valid driver's license as required by local authorities.
• Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable.
• Completion of a pre-employment drug screen, comprehensive background check and/or fingerprinting.
• Ability to obtain jet bridge certification.
• Must have the ability to pass the US Postal Service background check.

Responsibilities

• Move baggage and cargo of various weights to and from aircraft.
• Drive and operate belt loaders.
• Serve aircraft at gates with ground power and air conditioning.
• Tow and pushback aircraft from gates.
• Service aircraft lavatories and water ports.
• Clean interior of aircraft when needed.
• Position beverage and luggage carts around the ramp area.
• Works outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Work shifts that include irregular and/or extended hours, weekends and holidays.
