Job summary

Southwest Airlines in Indianapolis is seeking a Supervisor Ramp to coordinate ground operations and ensure on‑time station execution. The role requires overseeing GSE maintenance, staffing, and safety compliance while maintaining customer loyalty through efficient processes.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and proven experience in carrier operations, regulatory procedures, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of business operations, asset and HR allocation, standard operations procedures, CMS, and workforce management.
  • Understanding of aggregate trading agreements and their implementations.
  • Familiarity with shipping methods (air, rail, ocean, road) and related cost structures.
  • Experience with customer and passenger service standards, quality controls, and customer‑experience evaluation.
  • Proficiency with regulatory and administrative procedures, including document management and communication protocols.
  • Analytical skills to assess solutions and identify strengths and shortcomings.
  • Ability to interpret new data for current and future decision making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong comprehension and clear conveyance of complex information.
  • Proactive problem‑solving and decision‑making, addressing work‑and‑health concerns promptly.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with divisions to ensure on-time station execution and maintain customer loyalty.
  • Screen and guide ground support activities to meet operational requirements.
  • Maintain hardware, including GSE, ensuring it is available and functional.
  • Manage daily terminal tasks to provide a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Allocate and supervise entryway control for flights, training and monitoring specialists to prepare for arrival.
  • Implement safety procedures to reduce incidents and injuries.
  • Communicate status updates to supervisors and staff reliably.
  • Drive process improvements by anticipating operational challenges, tracking performance metrics, and ensuring compliance.
  • Assist staff in assembling offers in line with hourly objectives.
  • Perform regulatory duties such as shift planning, close‑out, daily work checklists, financials, and participation reports.
  • Coordinate staffing and manage overtime usage appropriately.
  • Maintain proper documentation of work agreements.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned by supervisory leaders.
