The role involves developing and delivering mechanical safety training, maintaining training records, and overseeing audits, investigations, and continuous improvement efforts, with travel up to 80% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, Railroad Operations, or related field.
• Railroad management or operations experience.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical dept operations and railroad safety regulations.
• Experience delivering technical and safety training.
• Experience conducting audits, incident investigations, and compliance reviews.
• Strong communication, leadership, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid Driver's License.
• CSP, ASP, OHST, CHST or similar certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support mechanical safety programs across railroad operations.
• Develop and deliver safety training for mechanical employees and oversee training records, certifications, and compliance requirements.
• Ensure compliance with FRA, OSHA, GCOR, AAR and company safety standards.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, job observations, and compliance reviews.
• Lead investigations involving incidents, injuries, accidents, and near misses; identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Partner with mechanical leadership to implement safety initiatives, policies, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Monitor regulatory changes and recommend updates to safety programs and procedures.
• Analyze safety performance metrics and prepare compliance reports.
• Participate in risk assessments and hazard mitigation activities.
• Travel up to 80% as business needs require.
