Job summary

BNSF Railway is seeking a Summer Intern to join the Engineering Roadway Equipment Team, gaining hands-on experience in equipment management and railway maintenance. You will work in field operations, collaborate with experienced engineers, and support projects that enhance machinery performance.

Plans include a two-day Fort Worth orientation, mentorship, and a clear pathway into the Management Trainee Program after graduation.

Qualifications

• Legally authorized to work in the United States (18+).
• Pursuing a Bachelor or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• GPA at least 2.75.
• Willing to relocate anywhere in BNSF operating system for the summer and travel up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Assist Planned Maintenance Coordinator Equipment Planning with new equipment shipping.
• Assist equipment retirements and ensure reporting compliance.
• Participate in scheduling and planning meetings at Brainerd Roadway Equipment Shop.
• Update SAP to reflect equipment assignments and locations.
• Coordinate with customers to assign ramp and rider cars to correct pools.
• Inspect equipment in the field and identify replacement opportunities.
