Job summary

BNSF Railway in Dilworth, MN is seeking a Conductor Trainee to support safe, efficient freight movement. You will learn train operations, safety protocols, and signaling responsibilities while working in a dynamic, weather-exposed role.

This full-time position (40 hours/week) includes on-call shifts, weekend and holiday work, and company-paid training up to 19 weeks at the training center in Overland Park, KS. Relocation is not offered, and a 60-day probation applies.

Qualifications

• Basic qualifications include ability to work now and in the future without employer sponsorship; 18+ by start date.
• Ability to report for duty at the designated work location.
• Ability to work safely under varied weather and shift conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and work around heavy equipment.
• Must read, write and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Communicate information via devices and monitor daily work; interpret signals for train movement.
• Switching operations: change train routing and verify switch alignment.
• Inspect trains and equipment; ensure compliance with federal regulations and report conditions.
• Work in a safety-sensitive environment with extreme weather and hazardous conditions.
