Job summary

BNSF Railway in Sheridan, WY is hiring Conductor Trainees for a full-time (40 hours/week) role with on-call, nights, weekends, and holidays. Training runs up to 19 weeks with company-paid on-the-job and classroom instruction, with travel to the training center in Overland Park, KS.

There are 2 positions; relocation assistance is not available and a three-year recall obligation applies. You’ll learn to operate trains, monitor signals, perform inspections, and work safely in diverse weather.

Qualifications

• Able to obtain employment authorization without BNSF sponsorship.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Ability to report for duty at the designated work location.
• Able to work safely in the stated conditions.
• Able to work the above shift/hours.
• Ability to travel as required.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
• Ability to learn to identify and interpret signals.

Responsibilities

• Obtain, receive, and act on information via various devices; monitor and report daily work.
• Operate track switches and derails to change train routing.
• Inspect trains and equipment per federal regulations; report conditions.
• Work in a safety-sensitive environment across diverse weather conditions.
