Pointer Smith Contracting Corporation seeks an experienced Railroad Maintenance Superintendent to oversee track maintenance operations in the Baton Rouge/New Orleans territory. Qualifications

• 5+ years in railroad track maintenance with 2+ years in supervision
• Strong knowledge of FRA Track Safety Standards
• Ability to lead diverse crews and coordinate budgets and schedules
• Experience managing budgets, labor planning and material logistics
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to travel within Baton Rouge/New Orleans territory and work variable hours; valid driver's license; pass pre-employment drug screening and background check

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and oversee daily maintenance and repair activities for track and related infrastructure across the territory
• Supervise multiple track maintenance crews and foremen, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance management
• Ensure all work complies with FRA Track Safety Standards, company safety policies, and applicable regulations
• Conduct or oversee regular track inspections; identify defects and prioritize repairs based on safety and operational risk
• Manage maintenance project budgets, labor allocation, equipment usage, and material procurement
• Coordinate track outages and maintenance windows with train operations/dispatch to minimize service disruption
• Investigate incidents, derailments, or safety violations and implement corrective action plans
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and crew activities in compliance with regulatory and company standards
• Build and maintain positive relationships with union representatives, local officials, contractors, and other stakeholders
• Respond to emergency track conditions or service disruptions, including after-hours and weekend call-outs as needed
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure proper use of PPE and safe work practices across all crews
