Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is hiring a Switchman to safely operate rail equipment and ensure timely freight delivery. Training will be provided to build a solid foundation for a long-term career.

The role is outdoors in all weather and includes a physically active environment with opportunities for growth within the network. You will work in a 24/7 operation, adhering to safety regulations, communicating with the team, and supporting train movements.

Qualifikationen

• Requires safety-sensitive environment experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Situational awareness and quick decision-making in safety-critical settings.
• At least 2+ years in related work is a plus.

Aufgaben

• Comply with federal, state and railroad safety regulations.
• Follow instructions from certified trainer or supervisor.
• Coordinate train or railcar movement using signals and radio.
• Operate track switches to determine train routes.
• Evaluate, plan and complete work safely and efficiently.
• Climb on/off equipment and walk length of yard to support operations.
• Read and understand rule books and documentation.
• Inspect railcars in movement and at rest.
• Connect air hoses and electrical components between locomotives/railcars.
• Utilize basic computer skills for reporting and documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
